This Patented Line Of High Performance Center-take-off Rack And Pinion Steering kit from Total Control Products Enables Correct Geometry And A Level Of Positive, Direct Steering That Is Not Possible With Adapted OEM Rack Units. This power rack and pinion enables correct geometry and a level of positive, direct steering that is not possible other types of adapted OEM Rack and Pinion Steering units. The TCP Power Rack features quick ratio, straight-cut steering gears, requiring only THREE TURNS lock-to-lock (standard OEM is 4-5/8 turns, Performance OEM is 3-3/4 turns). The existing factory Mustang mounting locations are used whenever possible to simplify the power rack installation. Once installed, the rack becomes a rigid cross member bracing the lower control arm mounts; an improvement over the original bent tubular design. Mounting brackets along with the center link are specific to engine type (You will pick your engine with the option set below). These unique mounting brackets are used to vary the height of the rack as needed for oil pan clearances with different engine types. See Documents Tab and notes below for more information.

Both manual and power versions feature quick ratio, straightcut gears, requiring only three turns lock-to-lock (standard OEM 4-5/8 turns, Performance OEM 3-3/4 turns). The unique modular design utilizes an assortment of mounting brackets and centerlinks to adapt to various classic Ford/Mercury vehicles including Mustangs, Cougars, Falcons, Comets and Rancheros.Existing factory mounting locations are used whenever possible to simplify rack installation. Once installed, the rack becomes a rigid crossmember bracing the lower control arm mounts; an improvement over the original bent tubular design.
PLEASE NOTE: Installation of rack-and-pinion system on '60-65 Falcons and '64-66 Mustangs REQUIRES V8 spindles and tie-rod assemblies.
**TIE ROD NOTES: Rack Kits DO NOT come with Inner and Outer Tie Rod end assemblies. You can use your stock tie rods or get new inner and out tie rod ends using the product option.
If you are going to put the front ride height lower (1.5 inches or more lower than stock) we recommend getting a Bumpsteer Outer tie rod set. We offer just the Outer bumpsteer tie rods OR the complete Inner and outer bumpsteer tie rod sets. (SEE RECOMMENDED ITEMS BELOW)**

Quicker Ratio - A quicker ratio means fewer turns of the steering wheel while maintaining the same turning radius. Our Rack & Pinion requires only 3 turns from lock-to-lock. The factory steering systems were a slow responding 4 turns. A more sensitive steering system will get you pointed in the right direction in less time. The TCP rack will clear most aftermarket headers and work with small or big block engines (With a Drop Down Bracket for Big Blocks).
