Special Notes

Are you fighting to turn your wheel and have vague steering on the highway? You can modernize your classic cars steering with this power steering conversion kit. It works great for Mustangs with limited engine space due to the fact that the entire unit mounts inside the vehicle, under the dash! It will also work with rack and pinion conversions with the correct U-Joint Adapter for the rack.

Kit Includes:

  • 60 Amp Electric Power Steering Motor
  • Electronic Control Box
  • Firewall Plate for Steering Shaft Support with Bearing
  • Steering Shaft U-Joints
  • Wiring Harness
  • On/Off Switch
  • Potentiometer to Adjust the Amount of Steering Assist
  • Features a low 9 Amp Draw
  • Average Installation Time: 10 Hours

The motor includes an internal computer that measures the amount of effort applied to the steering wheel and amplifies it with the aid of the motor. The included potentiometer can be mounted within an arms distance to allow you to adjust the amount of assistant desired. With the twist of a knob you can adjust your desired assist level so you can have maximum assist in the parking lot and less assist on the highway for instance.

This kit works with BOTH Manual and Power Steering, but we recommend it more for a manual set up. If you do have a power steering car we recommend not using the factory power ram and control valve as it leaks and is not needed with this electric assist kit. Installation is for the profession with experience installing steering systems as some cutting, drilling, tapping and wiring is required. Modifications to the steering are required even though it is made to work with the factory steering column. The long steering shaft will need to be cut near the steering box to install and included steering shaft. Upgraded electrical is not required and the Electrical wiring is pretty plug and play except for the required power source and ground. Since all parts are located under the dash it makes for a clean install.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you do have the stock power steering you can get rid of your ram and your control valve and replace the control valve with the adapter Part # C7ZZ-3304-AD

Technical Notes

Please note this is the LATE 67 version of this kit for use with the Stock Mustang steering column. In 1967 FORD had 2 Versions of their steering column, an early 67 version which had a steering shaft that runs through the column and built into the steering box (similar to the 66 Mustang Steering Column). Then later they had the LATE 67 version had a steering shaft that could be removed from the steering gear box instead. If you are unsure which you have you can give us a call to discuss.
