These Unisteer Rack and Pinion Steering kits will greatly increase handling, responsiveness, road feel, and decrease steering effort of your Classic Mustang.

Improved Steering Geometry- The Unisteer rack and pinion is engineered to improve on the factory suspension eliminating bump steer issues while maintaining the correct Ackerman angle.

Has Good Clearance - The Unisteer kit works with a large variety of engine, transmission and header configurations. Also clearing the factory Z-bar clutch linkage is not an issue.

True Bolt In Design- The kit is a true bolt on system using factory holes to mount the kit, requiring no cutting, drilling, or welding.

This is a center take-off style rack and pinion that utilizes an offset ball center bar which duplicates the stock center link; meaning the rack matches the exact geometry of the original front suspension. This effectively eliminates bump steer, and creates fantastic handling.

The rack comes mounted to a one piece mounting bracket which replaces the tubular cross member located directly behind the front suspension. Since the racks are center take-off style, we off set the rack on the mounting bracket; moving the pinions closer to the driver-side frame which makes connection of the steering linkage to a column as easy as possible.

Technical Notes

Early 67 Ford Mustangs do not have a rag joint and late 67 Mustangs do have a rag joint.

Early Mustang Split Mid 1967 and are slightly different, make sure you order the correct kit! Later model Mustangs and Cougars may look the same, but are NOT!

The kit will work on Big Block and have been successfully used with Stock Manifolds, and Hooker Super Comp Headers. Other Headers may work, but we can't guarantee an easy install. This kit may require some modifications on Mustangs with Dart Heads and other Aftermarket Heads requiring different headers. Some aftermarket headers will not clear with the steering linkage depending on the design. Please call us if you have any concern about clearances.

Please Note:  This kit requires the use of a mini starter for clearance with the main support cross member. Granada Spindles have been used on these cars. Please indicate this to us with the options menu above, so we can swap the outer ends you will need.
